Box Score
GROVE CITY, Pa. (Jan. 14) – Freshman forward Callie White poured in a game-high 20 points for the Yellow Jacket women, but it wasn't enough as they dropped a 61-51 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest to Grove City on Wednesday night.
The loss dropped Waynesburg to 4-9 overall and 2-3 in PAC play. The Wolverines improved to 5-8 overall and 3-3 in conference action.
GCC jumped on Waynesburg early, grabbing a 31-12 lead at halftime, which was helped out by a game-opening 11-0 run by the Wolverines. The Jackets were able to trim the lead down to six (53-47) in the second half, but couldn't complete what would have been a massive comeback.
Along with White, sophomore forward Elisha Jones reached double digits in the scoring column with 13 points.
Waynesburg dropped the contest despite holding a huge advantage from beyond the three-point arc. The visitors connected on a respectable six-of-14 shots from down town, good for 43 percent on the night. Grove City, meanwhile, made just one of nine from down town (11 percent).
Grove City was led by sophomore forward Christine Slater, who recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
The Jacket women return to action on Saturday night when they host nationally-ranked PAC rival Washington and Jefferson. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
