LATROBE, Pa. (Jan. 31) – The Waynesburg women's basketball team fell behind at halftime and couldn't recover as they dropped a 55-41 contest at Saint Vincent College on Saturday night.

The Yellow Jackets (6-13) trailed by just five (24-19) after the first period, but the Bearcats (13-5) out-scored their opponents 31-22 in the second half to pull away for the win.

Things started out well for the Jackets as they held a three-point lead (18-15) with 3:33 to go in the opening half. However, Saint Vincent went on a 9-0 run to take a 24-18 advantage.

The visitors were able to regain the lead several times in the second half, including a 31-29 advantage with 11:57 to go in the contest. But, the home team was able to seal up the win with a 20-7 run that gave the Bearcats an 11-point edge (49-38) with just 3:35 remaining in the contest.

Shooting woes hampered the Jackets all game, as they were able to connect on just 27 percent of their shots (16-of-60) during the loss.

Sophomore forward Elisha Jones paced Waynesburg with 14 points in the defeat. Saint Vincent was led by freshman guard Emily Fenton, who poured in a game-high 20 points.

Things don't get any easier for the Jackets as they return home on Wednesday, Feb. 4 to face nationally-ranked power Thomas More. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
