Women's soccer team battles hard, but falls at W&J

Jackets grab early lead before Presidents battle back to snatch win

Box Score

WASHINGTON, Pa. (Oct. 10) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 contest today at Washington & Jefferson.

The scoring action began early for both team as Waynesburg (4-8, 0-2), junior Sarah Spicuzza netted an unassisted goal nearly three and a half minutes in that gave the Jackets a 1-0 advantage. Roughly four minutes later, the Presidents (5-5-2, 2-1) scored off a corner kick to tie the game at 1-1.

Sophomore goaltender Katrina Kelly had a good day in net, as she stopped eight W&J shots. It would not be enough though as W&J tallied the game-winning goal with around 12 minutes to play.

Up next, the Yellow Jackets will host Chatham University Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m.
