NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Sept. 1) – The Waynesburg women's tennis team opened the 2009 season with a 9-0 road loss in a non-conference match with fellow Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) member Westminster on Tuesday.
The Jackets' top effort came at second doubles where the duo of Kelsey Diesel and Jessica Kody nearly pulled out a win over their opponents from Westminster, before falling by the final of 8-5.
Jenny McAndrews also battled valiantly at number-six singles before dropping 6-3-, 6-2 contest to the Titans' Jane Larson.
The match was the season-opener for both squads. The Jackets are back in action on Sept. 3, when they travel to Bethany to face the Bison in the opener of PAC play.
