GROVE CITY, Pa. (Sept. 26) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team dropped a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matches at Grove City this past Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets (3-9, 1-5) dropped a 3-0 contest to the host Wolverines and suffered the same fate at the hands of the Tomcats.
GCC downed the Jackets by the set scores of 25-20, 25-15, 25-20. Junior libero Rachell Storm continued to string together strong performances by piling up 25 digs in the loss. Freshman Presley Cupp added 11 digs.
Sophomore outside hitter Jordan Barton led the Waynesburg offensive attack with nine kills, while freshman setter Carly Smithyman piled up a team-best 23 assists against the Wolverines.
The Jackets fell to Thiel by the set scores of 25-6, 25-8, 25-17. Storm had another 20-plus dig performance by tallying 21 in the match. Smithyman recorded another double-digit assist match with 10. Barton led the attack with five kills.
Waynesburg gets a chance to snap out of a recent skid against PAC opponents on Wednesday, Sept. 30, when they travel to Bethany, W.Va. to face the Bison. The match is scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m.
