Box Score

NEW CONCORD, Ohio (Sept. 26) – The Waynesburg women's soccer team battled valiantly after falling behind on the road, but couldn't pick up the comeback win as they dropped a 3-2 contest at Muskingum on Saturday.

Trailing 2-0 in the first period after giving up a couple of early goals, the Yellow Jackets trimmed the lead to 2-1 on the first goal of the season from freshman Chelsey Root.

Still down one as the second half got underway, sophomore forward Courtney Ebersole buried her fifth goal of the season early in the second half to tie the game at 2-2.

Unfortunately, the Muskies were able to take the lead for good at the 66:33 mark of the match.

Sophomore Katrina Kelly got the start in net for the Jackets and played all 90 minutes. She recorded five saves on the day. The loss dropped the Jackets to 3-4 on the season, while Muskingum improved to 4-6.

Waynesburg will try to end a modest two-game losing streak Wednesday, Sept. 30, when they host Lake Erie College. The game is scheduled to get started at 6:30 p.m.
