Box Score

LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 5) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team concluded their two days at the Saint Vincent Bearcat Challenge with a loss to Carlow College on Saturday afternoon.

The loss gave Waynesburg a 1-3 record at the challenge and drops them to 1-4 on the season. The Celtics won the first set 25-21, before Waynesburg bounced back with a 27-25 win. Carlow sealed the victory with a 25-15 triumph in set three and a 25-12 clincher in set four.

For a young team like the Yellow Jackets, there were some definite positives in defeat.

Freshman Madison Sano continued to impress at setter as she racked up 36 assists, one off her season high. Sophomore Jordan Barton benefited a lot from Sano's work as she led the attack with 20 kills. Fellow sophomore Carly Schubert tacked on 10 successful attacks.

Junior libero Rachell Storm continued her stellar work with 28 digs in the match, while freshman Presley Cupp added 17 digs.

Waynesburg is back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 9, when they make their home debut against La Roche. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
