WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 19) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer teams scored their biggest win of the season and kept its playoff aspirations alive with a 2-1 victory over Grove City at John F. Wiley Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Yellow Jackets (8-6-2, 2-4) opened the scoring during the 25th minute of the first half when freshman Taylor Augustine took a header from junior Courtney Ebersole and buried the ball past the Grove City keeper to make it 1-0.

Waynesburg maintained their one-goal lead into halftime, but the Wolverines (9-6, 3-2) tied the game up just over nine minutes into the second period. However, the Jackets had an answer. Just over seven minutes later, Ebersole took a deep high arcing pass from sophomore Heather Davis and found the back of the net for her team-leading 11th goal of the season.

Leading 2-1, Waynesburg withstood a furious Wolverine rally, thanks in large part to the exceptional goalkeeping efforts of junior Katrina Kelly, who made 12 saves on the evening to preserve the victory.

The Jackets earned the hard-fought victory, their first over Grove City since before 2002, despite being out-shot 28 to six on the evening, and yielding 12 corner kicks to the Wolverines. Waynesburg will try to make it two wins in a row against Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponents when they travel to Bethany on Saturday, Oct. 23.
