Women's volleyball drops two at home triangular

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 2) - The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team went 0-2 at a home triangular, as they were defeated by Geneva College and Thomas More on Saturday, Oct. 2. 

The Golden Tornadoes (16-2) took the first two sets from the Jackets 25-11 and 25-18. The Jackets answered by pulling out a 25-23 win in the third set, but couldn't the comeback attempt, as they dropped the decisive fourth set, 25-16. 

The Jackets (7-11, 1-5) next faced Thomas More (12-7, 5-0), which was coming off an earlier defeat at the hands of Geneva. The Saints downed the Jackets 3-0 and won by the set scores of 25-12, 25-12, 25-22.

Junior middle hitter Jordan Barton led the way for the Jackets, as she ended her day with a combined 11 kills and 25 digs. Freshman Mabel Culp added nine kills, while her classmate Natalie Ranallo recorded a team-high 31 assists.

The Jackets return to action at on Wednesday, Oct. 6, for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown with Washington and Jefferson College. Waynesburg will host the Presidents for a 7 p.m. match.
