Ebersole scores 12th goal of the season in PAC contest

Box Score

BETHANY, W.Va. (Oct. 23) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team battled their hosts from Bethany to a 1-1 double-overtime tie in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown on Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets (8-6-3, 2-4-1) opened the scoring in the fifth minute of the contest when junior forward Courtney Ebersole found the back of the net for the 12th time this year off an assist from sophomore Chelsey Root. Waynesburg kept their one-goal advantage until the 77th minute of action when the Bison (7-7-2, 2-3-1) tied the game on a Cassie Spalding goal.

Waynesburg was unable to take a shot in both overtime periods, but junior goalkeeper Katrina Kelly, who made 13 saves on the day, stood tall in net and didn't allow any of the Bison's six extra time shots to slip past her.

The Jackets managed the 1-1 tie, despite being out-shot 30-9 on the day. Waynesburg returns home to celebrate senior night on Wednesday, Oct. 27, when they host Geneva for a 7 p.m. showdown.
