WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 27) – The Waynesburg women's soccer team sent their seniors out with a win on senior night by defeating the Geneva Golden Tornadoes 1-0 on Wednesday night.
The Yellow Jackets (9-6-3) and Tornadoes (10-6-3) played evenly throughout the first half of play and headed to halftime tied at 0-0. Senior Sarah Spicuzza ended the scoreless tie in the 66th minute by bending a corner kick in for what proved to be the game-winning goal.
The Jackets outshot the Tornadoes 17-9 and junior Katrina Kelly notched her fourth shutout of the season by making three saves in the second period to secure the victory.
Waynesburg will try to extend its unbeaten streak to five games when the squad travels to take on the Thiel Tomcats on Friday, Oct. 29, at 3 p.m. for the regular season finale.
