LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 9) – It was a rough Saturday for the Waynesburg women's volleyball team as they traveled to Saint Vincent College for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) tri-match with the host Bearcats and Thiel College.
The Yellow Jackets suffered 3-0 losses in each contest, first falling to Saint Vincent 25-12, 25-18, 25-12. In their late match, the Jackets (7-14, 1-8) were swept 25-16, 25-19, 25-14. Freshman Kaitlyn Blaich and junior Jordan Barton tallied a team-high 11 kills each over the two contests, while freshman Shayla Mitrik led the defensive effort with 20 digs. Sophomore Carly Smithyman racked up a team-best 19 assists over six sets, while freshman Natalie Ranallo added 16 helpers.
Waynesburg will try to get back on the winning track when they travel to Bethany for a PAC road match on Oct. 12.
