BETHANY, W. Va. (Dec. 4) – It was a rough start to the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) season for the Waynesburg men's basketball team as they fell 87-59 on the road at Bethany on Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets (2-3, 0-1) fell behind 44-25 at halftime and couldn't recover during the second period of play. Bethany (5-3, 2-0) shot 52 percent from the floor on the night, while the Jackets hit on just 38 percent of their attempts.
Though it came in a losing effort, freshman point guard Nick Herman gave his finest performance of his young collegiate career by pouring in a team-high 13 points on five-of-seven shooting. He also paced Waynesburg with three assists and swiped a team-best four steals.
Senior guard Erik Noone added 11 points for the Jackets, while junior guard Larry Alexander chipped in nine points.
The Jackets will look to get on the winning track on Saturday, Dec. 11, when they travel to Grove City to take on the defending PAC-champion Wolverines. Tip-off is at 3 p.m.
