McAndrews wins to clinch match for Jackets

Waynesburg completes PAC contest with W&J 16 days after it started

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 24) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team completed their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match with Washington & Jefferson on Friday in Waynesburg.

 

The match, which was started on Sept. 8 in Washington, was tied at 4-4 when its ending was delayed by darkness. The deciding flight of the match was played out between Waynesburg junior Jenny McAndrews and W&J's Rachel Detts. The fifth singles contest between the two was already tied at one set a piece going into Friday's action.

 

McAndrews won set three 6-3 to take the match 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 and give the Jackets a 5-4 victory. With the win, Waynesburg improved to 3-4 on the season and 2-1 in PAC play. The Presidents are now 3-3 on the year and 1-3 in conference action.

 

The Yellow Jackets will play for a third-straight day on Saturday, Sept. 25, when they host another PAC opponent, Westminster. The match is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
