LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 4) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team completed their stay at the Saint Vincent Bearcat Challenge with a pair of matches on Saturday.

 

The Yellow Jackets dropped a 3-1 match to Carlow College in the early contest of the day, and followed that with a 3-0 loss to Houghton. Waynesburg is now 2-3 on the season.

 

Things started well for the Jackets against Carlow, as they took set one by the score of 25-19. However, the Celtics bounced back by taking the final three sets 25-11, 25-12, 25-21.

 

Houghton swept their way to a win, but it wasn't easy. Waynesburg battled hard in the first two sets, dropping them by the scores of 29-27 and 27-25. The Highlanders, an NAIA School like Carlow, sealed the match with a 25-18 victory.

 

The Yellow Jackets compiled a 1-3 record over the two days of the Bearcat Challenge. They return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 8, with the start of Presidents' Athletic Conference play. Waynesburg will host Grove City for a 6:30 p.m. match.
