Women's volleyball team suffers heart breaker against Grove City

Yellow Jackets go up 2-1, but fall 3-2 to Wolverines at home.

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 5) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team suffered a heart-breaking 3-2 home Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss to Grove City on Wednesday at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
 
The Yellow Jackets (8-8, 2-6) jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the match after winning the first set 25-14, dropping the second set 25-22 and taking the third set 25-23. Unfortunately, the home team couldn't seal up the home win after dropping the fourth set 25-23. The visiting Wolverines (11-8, 3-5) clinched the win with a 15-10 triumph in the fifth set.
 
Senior middle hitter Lauren Wagner posted a team season-high 20 kills on the evening, while sophomore setter Natalie Ranallo set a team season high with 43 assists. Junior Presley Cupp paced Waynesburg's defensive efforts with a team-best 26 digs. Senior outside hitter Jordan Barton recorded her fifth double-double effort of the year after recording 11 kills and 15 digs.
 
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday, Oct. 8, when they travel to New Wilmington, Pa. for a PAC tri-match hosted by Westminster and also featuring Thiel. The Jackets are scheduled to play at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
