Men's Basketball can't get past Malone, 84-60

Bonnet scores 12 to pace Jackets

CANTON, Ohio (Dec. 10) – The Waynesburg men's basketball team simply couldn't contain Malone, a scholarship opponent with a 6-4 record, on Saturday, and the Yellow Jackets fell 84-60.
 
The loss dropped the Jackets to 2-7 on the season.
 
Malone never trailed in the contest, jumping out to an early lead in the opening minutes and never looking back.  The Pioneers out-shot the Jackets from the field (42 percent to 35 percent) while also out-rebounding Waynesburg 52-44 and forcing 20 turnovers in the win.
 
Waynesburg junior center Kurt Bonnet put up a team-high 12 points in the loss. Senior forward Lou Galante chipped in nine points and freshman forward Jason Probst grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Fellow freshman forward Jacob Fleegle was solid underneath on defense, as he had six rebounds along with a team-high two blocks.
 
Four different starters for the Pioneers reached double digits in scoring with Eric Coblentz leading the way with 18 points.
Waynesburg will need to rebound from the loss quickly, as they are on the road again, this time traveling to Tiffin, Ohio, to take on Heidelberg University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
