Jacket volleyball team opens PAC play

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Sept. 10) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team opened Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) competition on Saturday with a tri-match at Geneva College.
 
The Yellow Jackets suffered a pair of 3-0 losses to both the host Golden Tornadoes and Grove City College on the day. Waynesburg (4-4, 0-2) fell to Geneva by the set scores of 25-15, 25-20, 25-13. The Jackets kept things much closer against the Wolverines, but suffered the loss by the set scores of 25-20, 27-25, 25-22.
 
Senior middle hitter Lauren Wagner led the Waynesburg offense with 18 kills over the two matches. Sophomore Natalie Ranallo also played a big role in the attack with a team-best 28 assists on the day. The Yellow Jacket defense was paced by senior Jordan Barton and junior Presley Cupp, who totalled 27 and 23 digs.
The Jackets will look to rebound from the two-match sweep on Thursday, Sept. 15, when they return to non-conference action with a road match at Mt. Aloysius. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
