WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 20) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team won five of six singles matches to take down Washington & Jefferson by the final score of 6-3 in Tuesday's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match.
The Yellow Jackets (2-4, 2-1) managed just one win in doubles competition, which came courtesy of freshmen
Lauren Cowden and
Selena Messina, who won at third doubles by the final score of 8-1. However, things went much more smoothly for Waynesburg in singles play as the Yellow Jackets took down the Presidents (1-6, 1-4).
Senior
Rebeka Reyes got things going in solo competition with a comeback 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory at first singles. After W&J scored their lone solo triumph at the number-two spot, the Jackets took the final four contests to win the match.
Freshman
Alyssa Daniel followed Reyes' example with a three-set win by the scores of 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 at number-three singles. Limback won in straight sets at fourth singles 6-3, 6-3. Senior
Kelsey Diesel's win at fifth singles, which came by the set scores of 6-2, 4-6, 7-6, clinched the match for the home team. Freshman

The Jackets will try for their third conference win of the season on Saturday, Sept. 24, when they travel to Thomas More for an 11 a.m. match.
