Box Score

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 29) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team picked up a quality win on Thursday by taking down Chatham 7-2 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play.

The Yellow Jackets (3-6, 3-3) got the match off to a good start by winning two of the day's three doubles matches. Senior Rebeka Reyes teamed up with freshman Alyssa Daniel to earn an 8-3 victory at number-one singles. Chatham responded with a win at second doubles, but the Jackets grabbed a 2-1 advantage thanks to the freshman duo of Ellen Limback and Madison DuBrock, which was victorious by the final score of 8-3 at the number-three doubles spot.

Things went even better for the Jackets in singles play, as the home team took five of the six individual contests. After Chatham picked up a win at first singles, sophomore Markie Gustafson took a thrilling 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 decision at the number-two spot. Daniel (third singles, 6-3, 7-5), Limback (fourth singles, 6-3, 6-4), senior Jessica Kody (fifth singles, 6-0, 6-3) and senior Kelsey Diesel (sixth singles, 6-1, 6-0) ran the table down the stretch of the match to power Waynesburg to a victory.

The Jackets return to non-conference competition on Saturday, when they travel to Frostburg State to face the Bobcats on Saturday, Oct. 1. The match is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
