WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 6) – A pair of late goals from senior forward
Courtney Ebersole propelled Waynesburg a 2-0 victory over visiting La Roche at John F. Wiley Stadium on Tuesday night.
The win was the Yellow Jackets' second in a row and their first shutout win of the season. However, by the time halftime came around, the two teams were knotted up at 0-0 and the Jackets held just a slim 5-3 advantages in shots. The home squad's fortunes changed over the final 45 minutes of play as Ebersole scored her second goal of the year off an assist from
Terrin Crist in the 64
th minute. The first-team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) honoree put the game away in the 77
th minute with her third tally of the year to bring about the final score of 2-0. Sophomore
Taylor Augustine assisted on the goal.
Senior
Katrina Kelly started and played all 90 minutes in net. The Dunbar, Pa. native recorded three saves to secure the shutout. After their slow offensive start, the Yellow Jackets ended up out-shooting the Redhawks by a 13-4 margin.
Waynesburg will try to extend its current winning streak to three games on Saturday, when the Jackets head to Frederick, Md. to square off with Hood College.
