WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 16) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team snapped out of an eight-match losing streak in front of its home crowd on Tuesday night. The Yellow Jackets swept away visiting La Roche 3-0 at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
The Yellow Jackets (6-16) took the victory by the set scores of 25-18, 25-21, 25-21 over the Redhawks (4-18), thanks in part to juniors
Mabel Culp and
Amanda Silay, who recorded eight kills each. Junior
Natalie Ranallo posted a team-high 15 assists, while Silay and freshman
Jessica Dorazio paced the defense with 13 digs each.
Full statistics from the match will be released soon. The Jackets will try to keep their winning ways going tomorrow night, when they host Saint Vincent in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match. The contest is a Dig Pink match, with proceeds going to breast cancer research and prevention.
