WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 5) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team gave one of the top teams in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) all it could handle for 90 minutes on Friday night. Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets fell just short of downing Grove City and dropped a 1-0 decision to the Wolverines at John F. Wiley Stadium.
The loss dropped the Yellow Jackets to 2-1 in the PAC and 6-6 overall. The Wolverines improved to 2-1 in the conference and an impressive 9-1-1 overall.
The two teams went back and forth through the first half, and after 45 minutes of play, the scoreboard showed 0-0 as the two teams went to their respective locker rooms. Grove City finally broke up the 0-0 tie in the 62
nd minute of action, when Sarah Cessar scored an unassisted goal that wound up in the top right hand corner of the net.
The Jackets had a few opportunities to tie the score in the game's final minutes, but they couldn't find the net after Grove City turned away several opportunities off of corner kicks and free kicks.
Waynesburg did a solid job defensively in holding down one of the best offenses in the PAC. GCC outshot the Jackets 13-4 on the night and held 6-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Wolverines also held a slight 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

Ciara Scott, who made six saves on the night. The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 10, when they travel to Latrobe, Pa. to take on Saint Vincent. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
