Women's tennis rolls to win over Pitt-Greensburg

Klemash and DuBrock go 2-0 during 7-2 win over Bobcats

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 5) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team scored an impressive home win on Friday over visiting Pitt-Greensburg. The Yellow Jackets defeated the Bobcats 7-2.
 
Waynesburg (3-7) got things going by taking two of the three doubles matches. Freshman Rachel Klemash and sophomore Alyssa Daniel got things rolling with an 8-4 win at the number-one doubles spot before UPG (6-7) rebounded to take the number-two flight. Sophomores Ellen Limback and Madison DuBrock responded with an 8-2 triumph at the third spot.
 
After the action moved to the singles competition, Klemash added her second win of the day by the set scores of 6-2, 7-5 at first singles. The Bobcats responded by taking the match at second singles, but that was the last victory of the day for the visiting squad as Waynesburg swept the final four singles contests to seal up the win.
 
Junior Markie Gustafson won 6-4, 6-3 at number-three singles, while freshman Sarah Reyes was successful at the number-four spot by the final score of 6-3, 6-1. DuBrock (6-1, 6-3) and freshman Rachel Wilson (6-0, 6-1) won in straight sets at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
 
The Jackets return to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) competition on Saturday, Oct. 6, with a home match against Thomas More. Start time is scheduled for 10 a.m.
