MARIETTA, Ohio (Nov. 20) – The Waynesburg University men's basketball team traveled to Marietta College on Tuesday night to face a talented Pioneer team. The Yellow Jackets fell to their opposition 90-63.
Waynesburg (1-2) fell behind 40-28 at the half, before Marietta (2-1) closed out the win by outscoring its opponents 50-35 in period number two. The Pioneers enjoyed an efficient night from the floor, hitting on 58.7 percent of its shots (37-of-63), including an impressive 70 percent of their tries (21-of-30) in the second half.
The Jackets were led by sophomore
Thomas Ellis, who came off the bench to score a team-high 11 points and pull down a squad-best five rebounds. Sophomore guard
Casey Hope added 10 points on the night, while junior guard EJ Coleman and freshman point guard chipped in eight points each.
Waynesburg will try to get back on the winning track on Saturday, Nov. 24, when the Jackets host Penn State Altoona for their home opener. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
