NEW CONCORD, Ohio (Sept. 12) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team improved to 4-1 on the season with a 2-0 victory at Muskingum on Wednesday. The victory came as the Yellow Jackets played their fourth-straight game on the road.
With the first half coming to a close, the Yellow Jackets were able to break up a 0-0 tie thanks to sophomore
Emily Mullady, who scored her first goal of the year after taking an assist from senior
Heidi Weaver during the 42
nd minute of action. Waynesburg needed much less time in the second half to record an important insurance goal.
This time it was junior
Taylor Augustine doing the damage just 56 seconds into the half. The Waynesburg native was assisted on the tally by sophomore
Natalie Abraham. The two continue their two-woman race for the team scoring title as Abraham is up to 12 points on five goals and two assists, while Augustine has 10 total points on four goals and two helpers.
Freshman
Ciara Scott made three saves in net to pick up her second shutout of the season. The Jackets out-shot the Muskies by a 12-to10 margin on the night. Waynesburg is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 15, when the Orange and Black finally return to John F. Wiley Stadium for their first home game since Aug. 31 to take on Marietta. Start time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
