WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 15) – Despite peppering 20 shots at the Marietta goal, the Waynesburg University women's soccer team couldn't put any attempts past the Pioneer goalkeeper as the Yellow Jackets fell 2-0 on Saturday at John F. Wiley Stadium.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first half the Yellow Jackets (4-2) out-shot Marietta (2-5) 11-to-1 in the second period, but the visiting team's lone shot slipped past freshman keeper
Ciara Scott to bring about the final score of 2-0. Marietta received a shutout effort in net from keeper Kaitlyn Pearse.
Not only did Waynesburg dominate in shot attempts, but the Jackets also attempted six corner kicks to the Pioneers' one. After playing its first home game following four contests on the road, the Yellow Jackets will head back on the highway on Wednesday, Sept. 19, to face the University of Mount Union. Start time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
