WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 18) – The Waynesburg volleyball team played host to Westminster at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse on Tuesday night for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown.
Though the Titans (8-3, 3-0) ended up scoring a 3-1 victory, the Yellow Jackets (3-8, 1-5) handed the visiting team its first lost set of the 2012 season against a PAC opponent. Following a 25-13 win for Westminster in set one, the Jackets bounced back to take set two 25-21. Unfortunately, the visiting team went on to take the third and fourth sets of the night by the scores of 25-18 and 25-14, respectively.
The Jackets were led by junior
Amanda Silay, who put down a team-high 11 kills on the evening. She was helped out by senior setter
Carly Smithyman, who paced her team with 17 assists. Waynesburg was led defensively by senior
Presley Cupp and freshman
Jessica Dorazio, who went for 24 and 16 digs, respectively.
The Jackets will host their third-straight home event on Saturday, Sept. 22, when they play host to non-conference opponents Carlow and Pitt-Greensburg for a tri-match. The first contest of the day is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
