Women's tennis keeps on winning

Yellow Jackets notch third-straight win after beating Thiel 7-2

Box Score

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Oct. 1) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team won its third-straight match, all against Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opposition, on Tuesday by beating Thiel 7-2.

The Yellow Jackets (8-4, 5-3) got off to a fast start by winning two-of-three doubles matches to open the contest. Sophomore Sarah Reyes and junior Alyssa Daniel teamed up for an 8-2 victory at first doubles, and were followed by junior Madison DuBrock and sophomore Rachel Wilson winning 8-6 at the number-two spot.

The Jackets wasted little time in putting away the Tomcats (3-7, 2-6) once singles play started. Waynesburg won the first five solo contests, with Daniel (first), Reyes (second), DuBrock (third) and Wilson (fifth) all completing 2-0 afternoons. Junior Lauren Cowden continued an outstanding season of singles competition after running her record in solo competition to 10-1 with a straight-set triumph at fourth singles.

The Jackets return to action on Saturday, Oct. 5, when they host a homecoming tri-match. Waynesburg is scheduled to play PAC opponent Geneva at 9 a.m. and non-conference opponent Marietta at 3 p.m.
