Women's soccer wins third in a row

Yellow Jackets score 3-2 road victory at Bethany

Box Score

BETHANY, W.Va. (Oct. 16) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team picked up its third-straight win by beating Bethany 3-2 in a road Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest on Wednesday.

The Yellow Jackets (6-6, 3-1) fell behind the Bison (2-12, 0-4) on an early goal from the home team. Waynesburg rebounded with a goal in the 41st minute from junior Taylor Bombalski, who found the back of the net on a free kick.

With the score still tied 1-1 as the second half got underway, the visiting team took control of the contest with a pair of goals scored in the early part of the period. Senior Taylor Augustine took advantage of an ill-advised Bison pass and converted a turnover into the Jackets' second tally of the game during the 51st minute of play.

Waynesburg got the eventual game-winning goal from junior Emily Mullady, who increased her team's advantage to 3-1 in the 53rd minute. Bethany cut its deficit down to a single point with the contest's final tally in the 67th minute of action. However, it was too little, too late and the Jackets escaped the victory.

Waynesburg held a sizeable 26-to-four advantage in total shots on the afternoon. The Yellow Jackets will go for their fourth-straight win on Saturday, Oct. 19, when they travel to Crestview Hills, Ky. to face Thomas More. Start time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
