Volleyball tangles with Thiel

After splitting first two sets, Tomcats pull away for 3-1 win

Box Score WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 29) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team welcomed Thiel College to the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse on Tuesday night for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) clash. After the two squads split the first two sets of the match, the Tomcats closed out the night with back-to-back victories for a 3-1 triumph.
 
After Thiel (4-24, 4-12) took set one 25-19, the Yellow Jackets (6-23, 1-16) rebounded with a 25-22 triumph in set two. Unfortunately, the Tomcats closed up the victory by winnings set three 25-22 and set four 25-19.
 
Senior Mabel Culp put down a team-high 12 kills, while classmate Natalie Ranallo notched a double-double with a team-high 26 assists and 17 digs. Sophomore Jessica Dorazio paced the Jacket defense with a squad-best 28 digs.
 
Culp, Ranallo, Amanda Silay and Sam Styche will all be honored before Saturday's regular season finale as a part of the 2013 senior day festivities. The Jackets' match with visiting Chatham University is scheduled to get underway at 11 a.m.
