Volleyball ends 2013 on high note

Yellow Jackets pick up 3-0 sweep of Chatham

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Nov. 2) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team ended the 2013 season on a high note by beating Chatham 3-0 on Saturday at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse. The Yellow Jackets scored the victory over the Cougars after celebrating senior day.
 
Waynesburg (7-23, 2-16) swept through Chatham (0-28, 0-18) by the set scores of 25-11, 25-17, 25-15 to complete a sweep of the two-match season series. The senior duo of outside hitter Amanda Silay and middle hitter Mabel Culp tied for the match lead in kills with 12 each. A third member of this year's senior class, middle hitter Sam Styche, also reached double digits in successful attacks (10).
 
The fourth and final member of this year's senior class, setter Natalie Ranallo racked up a contest-best 30 assists. Silay completed a senior day double-double by recording a Jacket-best 11 digs. Sophomore Jessica Dorazio chipped in 10 digs. Waynesburg boasted its best team hitting percentage of 2013 at .344
