Women's tennis tangles with Westminster

Jackets wind up on short end of 7-2 final score

Box Score

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Sept. 14) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team hit the road on Saturday to battle Westminster in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown. The Titans wound up on the winning end of a 7-2 contest with the Yellow Jackets.

Things started well for the Jackets (4-2, 1-1), as sophomore Rachel Klemash teamed up with junior Alyssa Daniel to pull out a 9-7 win at first doubles. However, the Titans (5-0, 5-0) rebounded by taking the final two doubles matches and the first five singles contests to seal up the overall victory. Junior Lauren Cowden stopped the Jacket slide at sixth singles by coming out on top of a 6-4, 6-4 decision.

Waynesburg returns to the courts on Tuesday, Sept. 17, with a 4 p.m. home match against Saint Vincent College.
