WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 4) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team christened the new playing surface at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse in style on Wednesday night by taking down visiting Mt. Aloysius 3-1. It was the first varsity event played on the new hardwood floor at the venue.
The Yellow Jackets (3-2) jumped out to a 2-0 lead by winning set one 26-24, and cruising to a set-two win 25-11. The Mounties (1-4) cut into the deficit by taking set three 25-19, before the home team closed out the victory by beating its opposition 25-21 in set four.
Seniors
Mabel Culp and
Amanda Silay led the offensive charge for the victors by each tallying a team-high nine kills. Fellow senior
Natalie Ranallo helped out the attack with a Jacket-best 32 assists. The Waynesburg defensive effort was headed by sophomore Jess Dorazio, who dug out 17 digs on the night.
The Orange and Black continue the early-season, non-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) portion of its schedule with a trip to a two-day tournament at La Roche College, beginning on Friday.
