Volleyball has a busy two days in Pittsburgh

Yellow Jackets go 2-2 at two-day La Roche tournament

(Sept. 7) – It was a busy Saturday for the Waynesburg volleyball team, which traveled to Pittsburgh for a tournament hosted by La Roche College. The Yellow Jackets went 1-2 over three matches on the day, and ended the two-day event with a 2-2 mark.
 
Waynesburg (5-4) opened the day with a 3-0 win over fellow Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) member Chatham. The Yellow Jackets swept the Cougars by the set scores of 25-20, 25-15, 25-20. That victory was followed by straight-set losses at the hands of the host Redhawks (25-20, 25-12, 25-20) and Oberlin (27-25, 25-19, 25-23).
 
The Jackets opened the weekend-long event on Friday with an impressive 3-0 victory over D'Youville. Waynesburg dispatched of the Spartans by the set scores of 25-20, 25-15, and 26-24. Full statistical information on the weekend's action will be made available soon.

Waynesburg was led by senior Amanda Silay, who put down a team-high 33 kills over the four matches, which averaged out to 2.75 kills per set.  Fellow senior Natalie Ranallo set up a number of those successful tackes as part of her 75-assist weekend (6.25 aps).

The Yellow Jacket defense was led by sophomore Jess Dorazio, who piled up a squad-best 65 digs (5.42 dps). Senior Sam Styche stuffed four blocks against D'Youville and had five over the span of the weekend.
 
Waynesburg will play its fourth-straight match away from the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse on Tuesday, Sept. 10, when the Jackets travel to Carlow University. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m. Fellow senior Natalie Ranallo set up a number of those successful tackes as part of her 75-assist weekend (6.25 aps).
