Match Results WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 10) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team played its second non-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match in as many days on Friday, when Division II Alderson Broaddus came to town. After celebrating senior day, the Yellow Jackets battled through a closely contested match before pulling out a 5-4 victory.
The Jackets (9-4) got things going by winning two-of-three doubles matches. Junior
Rachel Klemash and senior
Alyssa Daniel got things rolling with an 8-5 win at first doubles. Senior
Madison DuBrock and junior
Rachel Wilson added an 8-1 decision at third doubles.
Klemash and DuBrock both completed 2-0 days with crucial singles victories. Klemash won perhaps the most vital contest of the day by battling through a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 matchup at first singles. DuBrock had an easier time of it at the number-five spot, where she triumphed in straight sets 6-0, 6-1. Another of the Jackets' senior honorees,
Lauren Cowden, scored a big solo win that took just two sets to accomplish. Cowden downed her opponent at sixth singles 6-0, 6-3.
Waynesburg is next scheduled to be in action on Monday, Oct. 13, when it returns to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Monday, Oct. 13. The Jackets square off with Grove City for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
