Luke Lohr posted a perfect 4-0 day on the mats to lead the Waynesburg University wrestling team at Saturday's Mount Union Duals. The 17
th-ranked Yellow Jackets posted a 1-3 record on the day.
The Jackets (5-3) opened the day with a 33-9 loss to the host Purple Raiders, followed by a 35-10 setback to Lycoming. Waynesburg rebounded with a 27-12 victory over John Carroll, before falling 35-8 to Baldwin Wallace.
Lohr, wrestling at 157 pounds, picked up the Jackets' first win of the day on a pin that took 4:42 to accomplish against Mount Union (5-1). Two bouts later, senior
Sam Guidi ran his season-opening win streak to nine bouts by grinding out a 3-0 decision at 174 pounds.
After Lycoming (5-2) took a 3-0 lead with a win at 125 pounds, sophomore
Filippo Crivelli tied the match at 3-3 with a 5-0 decision victory at 133 pounds. Unfortunately, Waynesburg didn't pick up another win until Lohr improved to 2-0 with an 11-4 decision at 157. Guidi also picked up win number two on the day against the Warriors by way of a 10-2 major decision at 174 pounds.
The Jackets got out to a hot start during their win against John Carroll (6-3). Junior 125-pounder
Gordan Bieber received a forfeit and was followed by Crivelli scoring a 3-0 triumph at 133. Freshman D.J. Grindle needed overtime to do so, but he ran his team's lead to 15-0 with a pin in sudden victory at 141 pounds.
The Blue Flashes picked up their first win at 149 pounds to cut Waynesburg's lead to 15-3, before Lohr put together a 13-6 decision win at 157. Two bouts later, Guidi made the score 21-8 by pulling out a 3-1 triumph. Waynesburg scored its final six points of the match when freshman heavyweight
Shane Lowman received a forfeit.
Crivelli notched a pin against Baldwin Wallace (6-4) for his third win of the day, while Lohr completed his perfect effort by taking a high-scoring 17-11 decision at 157.

Waynesburg will have two weeks to rest up and prepare for the always challenging field at the Ohio Northern Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 6. The event is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
