WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Dec. 1) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team tipped off the month of December Monday night by hosting Allegheny College. The Yellow Jackets trailed by just four points at halftime, but saw the game slip away in the second half of a 92-70 loss. 
The Gators (5-2) scored the game's first two points on a pair of free throws 15 seconds into the game to go ahead 2-0. The visiting team never trailed on the night, and led by as many as 10 points in the first half. Waynesburg (2-3) ended the opening period on a 6-0 run, however, that turned a 38-28 deficit into just a 38-34 disadvantage at halftime. Sophomore 
Haley Delaney scored four of the six points. 
The Jackets carried their momentum over to the second half, as junior 
Heather Davis knocked down the first shot of the period to make the score 38-36. After the Gators responded with a basket in their next possession, senior 
Rebecca Kerr dropped in a fast-break layup to pull her team back to within two points at 40-38 with 18-19 left to play. 
Unfortunately, Waynesburg was never able to complete the comeback, as Allegheny heated up from the field and put the game away with a 20-4 run over the next 5:38 of game time. The home team was able to pull to as close as 11 points of the Gators before the conclusion of the contest. 
The Jackets were led by freshman forward 
Addy Knetzer, who scored a team-high 17 points and added five rebounds to another solid evening on the court. Sophomores 
Katie Gehlmann and 
Haley Delaney chipped in 14 and 10 points, respectively, while Kerr yanked down a squad-best eight rebounds. Gehlmann added seven boards to her evening's work. Junior point guard 
Lauren Blair dished out a game-high five assists. 
Waynesburg returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 3, with its first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game of the year. The Yellow Jackets host Thomas More for their fifth game against a team that currently sports an overall record of .500 or better. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
