Women's tennis wins PAC opener

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 10) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team opened up Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play on Wednesday by welcoming Thiel College to town. The Yellow Jackets found success in both the singles and doubles ranks en route to a 7-2 win over the Tomcats.
 
The Jackets (3-1, 1-0) opened up the day by claiming victory in two of three doubles contests. The number one doubles team of junior Rachel Klemash and senior Alyssa Daniel scored an 8-4 victory, while senior Madison DuBrock and junior Rachel Wilson put together a hard fought 9-7 win at the third spot.
 
Klemash completed a 2-0 day by winning in straight sets (6-1, 6-3) at number-one singles. She was one of five Yellow Jackets to earn solo triumphs.
 
Junior Emily McDonold and senior Ellen Limback both rebounded from a loss at number-two doubles with wins at third and fourth singles, respectively. DuBrock and Wilson wrapped up the conference victory by besting their opponents at number-five and number-six singles, respectively. Wilson rebounded from a 6-1 loss in set one of her match to steal the win.
 
The Jackets are back in action on Friday, Sept. 12, with a PAC match at Geneva College. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
