Jacket volleyball has solid week

Waynesburg goes 2-3 over five contests

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 7) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team posted a respectable 2-3 record over five matches this past week.
 
The Jackets opened up the week with a 3-0 loss at Franciscan University on Wednesday, but rebounded with a 2-2 showing at the La Roche College Tournament over the weekend. Waynesburg opened its run on Friday with a 3-1 victory over Pitt Greensburg. The Yellow Jackets ended its stay in Pittsburgh with a 3-0 loss to Bluffton (Ohio), a 3-0 loss to Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Washington & Jefferson and a 3-0 victory over Chatham.
 
The Waynesburg offense was led by junior Kourtney Skinner, who averaged a team-best 3.0 kills per set. Skinner's 39 total kills paced the Yellow Jackets in that category as well. Sophomore Morgan Newbauer played a major role in the Orange and Black attack by averaging 7.31 assists per set (95 in total). Newbauer also recorded a squad-best five service aces.
 
Defensively, junior honorable mention All-PAC pick Jessica Dorazio put up a team-high 3.31 digs per set. Sophomore middle hitter Jordin Faust made the most of her six sets of play by coming up with a team-best five blocks.

The Yellow Jackets return to the court on Friday, Sept. 12, when they travel to the two-day Frostburg State Tournament. Waynesburg is scheduled to face Washington College (Maryland) on day one to begin their four-match run.
