LATROBE, Pa. (Jan. 7) – The Waynesburg University men's basketball team traveled to Saint Vincent College on Wednesday night for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown with the Bearcats. The Yellow Jackets stayed competitive throughout most of the night, but a late run by the home team ultimately led to its 71-60 victory.
The Jackets (6-7, 2-2) took the early 6-2 lead by scoring six unanswered points following a Bearcat (9-4, 4-0) hoop to open the contest. Waynesburg led by as many as five points (9-4) and stayed ahead of SVC until the score was tied at 21-21 with 4:28 showing on the first-half clock. The Bearcats ended the opening period on a 7-1 sprint to take a 28-22 lead into the break.
The home team never relinquished its advantage and led by as many as 17 as the game wound down to its conclusion. The Jackets were able to pull to as close as six points (55-49) of the lead with just under five minutes remaining in the contest, but couldn't complete the comeback.

Kenny Klase nearly posted a double-double on nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Waynesburg is back in action on Saturday, when it returns home to host Bethany. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
