WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Feb. 18) – The Waynesburg University men's basketball team wrapped up the 2014-15 regular season with a 70-62 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win over Geneva ton Wednesday. The victory moved the Yellow Jackets a half-game ahead of idle Thomas More for second place in the conference standings.
The Jackets (16-9, 12-4) never trailed in the win and got the game off to a solid start by building a 12-5 lead over the first seven minutes of action. A 9-2 run pushed Waynesburg's advantage to 21-7at the midway point of the half. The host squad never trailed by less than three baskets over the remainder of the opening period and held a 30-19 halftime lead.
Geneva (10-4, 7-8) upped the game's drama in period number by quickly cutting its deficit down to just five points (33-28) after 4:36 of action. The Tornadoes got as close as four points to completing the comeback, and trailed by just six with under two minutes left to play.
Four-straight free throws gave Waynesburg a 10-point advantage with 1:11 showing on the game clock. Geneva never gave up over the final few moments of the contest, but more often than not, the Jackets were able to answer field goals from the Golden Tornadoes with clutch free throws over the evening's final seconds. The victors made seven-of-eight foul shots attempted over the last minute of action.
A quartet of Jackets reached double digits in scoring during the victory. Senior forward

B.J. Durham chipped in 11 points each on the night.
Despite giving up a lot of height to the opposition, Waynesburg posted a rather sizeable rebounding advantage (42-to-27). The Jackets were also noticeably more productive at the free throw line, where they made 21-of-25 attempts, as compared to Geneva's 13-of-22 effort at the stripe.
With the regular season wrapped up, Waynesburg waits to see what their playoff fate will be to open the postseason next week. A win by Saint Vincent College over Thomas More on Saturday gives the Jackets the number-two seed in the conference tournament.
