Series Breakdown
All-Time Series: Waynesburg leads 9-7
First Meeting: 1904 (Muskingum won 33-5)
Last Meeting: 2014 (Waynesburg won 33-0)

Things to Watch For:
  • This will be the fourth-straight season opener contested between Waynesburg and Muskingum. The Yellow Jackets have won the first three meetings of the streak, and five-straight contests against the Muskies.

  • A victory over Muskingum would improve Rick Shepas' record as Yellow Jacket head coach to 65-40. It would also tie him for the program lead in career wins with Frank N. Wolf (65-63).

  • Senior running back Willie Leavell leads all Waynesburg returners in rushing yards (292), receiving yards (328 yards) and passing yards (20). He also recorded six offensive touchdowns in 2014. Leavell is also the team's top kick/punt returner, having averaged 24.6 yards per kick return, 13.7 yards per punt return. He also recorded his first collegiate kickoff return for a touchdown following an 86-yard sprint to pay dirt against Case Western Reserve.

  • Senior linebacker Aaron Palmer leads the Jacket defense into the 2015 season. Last fall, he tied for the team lead with 75 total tackles, 5.5 were for loss.

  • Waynesburg was picked to finish fourth in the PAC's preseason poll. Muskingum was selected to finish seventh in the Ohio Athletic Conference preseason polls.

  • Muskingum's defense features D3Football.com preseason All-American Chaney Fulton, who piled up 97 total tackles as a sophomore. He racked up 13.0 tackles for loss, six sacks and two fumble recoveries.

  • While Waynesburg brings back just nine returning starters this fall, Muskingum boasts 24 starters from last year's 3-7 team.
