LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 5) - The Waynesburg University volleyball team wrapped up action at the Saint Vincent Bearcat Challenge on Saturday afternoon by dropping a pair of matches. The Yellow Jackets lost their opening match versus the College of Wooster, 3-1, and then fell to Franciscan, 3-0.

In their first match, the Jackets (0-5) lost to Wooster (5-0) in four sets, 25-16, 22-25, 25-14, 25-15.  Freshman setter
Sydni Ayers posted a double-double for Waynesburg with 28 assists and 12 digs. Offensively, junior right side
Shannon Morgan and senior outside hitter
Kourtney Skinner each recorded double-digit kills, scoring 11 and 10 winners, respectively.Â

Waynesburg was unable to rebound in the nightcap, as Franciscan (3-1) controlled the match from the outset to win in straight sets, 25-4, 25-12, 25-20. Ayers collected her second double-double of the day with 15 assists and 14 digs. Senior libero
Jessica Dorazio also made an impact defensively, posting 11 digs. On offense, Morgan led all Jackets with seven kills. She was later named to the all-tournament team.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Wednesday, September 9, with their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener at home versus Washington & Jefferson. Start time from the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse is set for 7 p.m.
