ALLIANCE, Ohio (Nov. 19) – The Waynesburg University wrestling team traveled to the Mount Union Duals on Saturday and received a trio of dominant performances. Junior

Ryan Shank and sophomore
Jake Evans all posted 4-0 days as the Yellow Jackets went 1-3 at the event.
Evans led the undefeated trio with three wins by fall and a 2-0 decision at 285 pounds. Shank was also impressive, winning two bouts by major decision and a third by pin. The 184-pounder upended Messiah's Derek Beitz 6-4 in a bout featuring wrestlers who both appear in the current D3Wrestle.com national rankings. Beitz is listed as a "contender" for the top 10. Buxton gave Waynesburg (2-4) a lead in each of their matches with two wins by major decision and a pair of decision victories at 125 pounds.

Landon Lohr and senior
Filippo Crivelli all posted 2-2 days. Hull won both of his contests by decision, while Crivelli snagged a major decision victory. Lohr went .500 at Mount Union with a pin and a decision.
The Orange and Black opened its only team win of the day with a major decision from Buxton. After Greensboro (0-5) followed with a pin at 133 pounds, Crivelli fired back with another major at 141 pounds that gave his team an 8-6 advantage.
The Pride retook the lead with back-to-back victories, but Lohr stopped the bleeding with a pin in just 1:42. A decision win by Greensboro at 174 pounds bumped its advantage up to 19-14, but the Jackets pulled back to within a single point at 19-18 thanks to Shank's first major decision of the day.
The back-and-forth affair saw the Pride pick up a decision at 197 pounds that made the score 22-18. Needing bonus points to avoid defeat, Waynesburg head coach
Ron Headlee sent Evans, the number-10- ranked heavyweight in the country according to D3Wrestle.com, to the mat. The sophomore standout came through in the clutch with a dominant win by fall late in the second period.
Waynesburg returns to the mats after Thanksgiving break to take part in the Ohio Northern Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 3. Start time is scheduled for 9 a.m.
