WESTERVILLE, Ohio (Dec. 29) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team traveled to Otterbein University on Thursday for its first game at the Smokey Ballenger Classic. The Yellow Jackets dropped a 90-58 final score to Albion.
Waynesburg (6-4) trailed by just three points (17-14) after one quarter of play. Albion's (7-3) lead grew to 39-28 at halftime, before the Britons pulled away by outscoring the Jackets 24-14 in period number three. The fourth quarter didn't go any better for the Orange and Black, which trailed by as many as 33 points on the day.

Addy Knetzer led Waynesburg with team highs in points (14) and rebounds (nine). Senior
Katie Gehlmann matched Knetzer with 14 points on five-of-nine shooting. Sophomore point guard
Monica Starre dished out a game-high seven assists to go along with six points, five rebounds and two steals. Senior forward
Haley Delaney posted three blocks and eight points.
Waynesburg finishes its stay at the event tomorrow by facing the host Cardinals. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
