WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 14) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team hosted Thiel for senior day on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets enjoyed a successful day at John F. Wiley Stadium, which included a 4-0 win over Thiel.
 
Several of Waynesburg's (6-6-1, 2-3) six senior honorees played major roles in its most recent victory. Senior defender Sam Nichols tallied the eventual game-winning goal during the 13^th minute of action. The score was set up by sophomore Teagan Jenner.
 
The Jackets were unable to extend their advantage over Thiel (3-10, 0-4) until the second half of Saturday's victory. Jenner logged her second helper of the afternoon when she set up freshman Emily Hill for a crucial insurance goal in the 55^th minute of play.
 
After freshman Amelia Beland found the back of the net to make the score 3-0 in the 66^th minute, senior Courtney Zofcin gave herself a memorable senior day with her first collegiate goal. The goal in the 79^th minute was set up by fellow senior Nikki Davis.
 
Sophomore Courtney Syfert got the start in net, but played just the first 4:56 of the contest. Senior Heather Fraser logged the final 85-plus minutes of action, which gave her the victory.
 
The Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 17, when they travel to Chatham for a PAC match. Start time is scheduled for 8 p.m.
