BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Feb. 18) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team ended its regular season with a bang on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets built a 17-9 lead after the first quarter and never looked back during an 83-37 win at Geneva.
Waynesburg (15-10, 11-7) extended its advantage to 42-26 by halftime and didn't slow down in the second half. The Jackets outscored the Golden Tornadoes (4-21, 1-17) 41-11 over the final two quarters to close up the victory.
Senior guard
Katie Gehlmann continued her season-ending hot streak with a game-high 22 points on seven-of-13 shooting. Gehlmann knocked down six-of-12 tries from three-point range and has averaged 20.3 points per game over her last four contests.
Sophomore guard
Anna Bartman piled up 14 points off the bench by knocking down five-of-nine field goal attempts, including four three-pointers. Junior
Mackenna Drazich chipped in 11 points to the winning effort.
With the regular season wrapped up, Waynesburg now turns its attention to the 2017 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) playoffs. The fourth-seeded Yellow Jackets will host the winner of fifth-seeded Grove City and eighth-seeded Westminster on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
