LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 1) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team opened the 2017 season with a non-conference match at Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Saint Vincent. The Yellow Jackets dropped a 9-0 final score to the host Bearcats.
 
Though the Jackets (0-1) were swept on the day, Waynesburg was a few key points away from taking two of the three doubles flights. The number-one pair of seniors Wendy Wall and Liz Ensminger battled to a 9-7 final score. Sophomore Noelle Hughes and freshman Sierra Jones posted an identical 9-7 final tally at the second spot.
 
The visiting team was forced to forfeit at third doubles before moving on to singles competition.
 
Waynesburg opens PAC competition on Tuesday when it travels to Thiel to face the Tomcats. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
