Volleyball plays two in Kentucky

Waynesburg squares off with Thomas More and Chatham

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. (Sept. 23) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team made the long road trip to Kentucky for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) tri-match with Chatham and the host school, Thomas More. The Yellow Jackets dropped a pair of 3-0 matches to their league rivals.

Waynesburg (1-12, 0-7) opened against the home-standing Saints (12-4, 5-0) and came up short by the set scores of 25-18, 25-20, 25-9. The Yellow Jackets stayed on the floor for the middle match of the day against the Cougars (7-5, 1-5). The Orange and Black dropped the PAC tilt 25-15, 25-19, 25-14.

The Waynesburg offense was led juniors Jordyn Wyllie and Cassidy Guiser, who tallied 11 and 10 kills, respectively, over the twin bill. Freshmen Rachel Lemay and Olivia Zuchelli both saw ample time at the setter position, where they totaled 13 and 12 assists, respectively.

The Jacket defense was paced by Guiser and sophomore Alyssa Proper, who both recorded 19 digs on the day. Guiser completed a solid all-around day with four service aces.

Waynesburg returns home on Tuesday, Sept. 26, for a home PAC matchup with Saint Vincent. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
